Faithful Friends - Improving the lives of pets and people!
Faithful Friends is a wonderful organization that helps rescue homeless pets and saves them from euthanasia.  Joe and I adopted our cats Toby and Gracie from Faithful Friends in October of 2007.  They are so adorable and they give us endless love and lots of laughs!

Faithful Friends goal is to create a community that reduces the birth of unwanted pets, finds homes for all adoptable animals and provides a sanctuary for those who, because of age, illness or temperament, can't easily be adopted. They are located at 12-A Germay Drive, Wilmington, DE 19804 and can be reached at 302-427-8514.

Biden Breast Health Initiative (BBHI)
10th Annual - Beauty for Life Event
Sunday, March 7, 2010
Chez Nicole Salon, Wilmington, Delaware

The mission of Biden Breast Health Initiative is to empower young women through awareness and education to assume responsibility for their overall well-being with a strong emphasis on breast health.  The BBHI was formed in the early 1990s after Jill Biden had several friends diagnosed with breast cancer. She realized that too often, breast self-examination (BSE) was not considered important for young women, as breast cancer was thought to be an older woman's disease. As an educator of high school and college age students, Jill decided to do something about it, and gathered breast cancer survivors, community leaders, and medical professionals together to help her provide crucial information to female students in the 10th, 11th, and 12th grades. A program was implemented that focused on BSE and the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. Our long-range goal is to decrease breast cancer incidence and mortality in Delaware through breast health awareness and education.

The Independence School
Paper Mill Road, Newark, Delaware
Wild Wild West... Auction on the Range 2010
March 13, 2010

The Auction at Independence is a biennial event that has become one of the school’s major fund-raisers. Our most recent Auction, in 2008, raised close to $100,000! Over the years, profits from this event have funded capital campaigns, school buses and technology. This year’s Auction proceeds will primarily support Physical Education, Health, Nutrition and Athletics programs, Faculty Development and Education, and Student and Teacher Technology, with a small portion going to endowment.
As always, excitement is building for the Auction. We anticipate another sell-out for March 13, 2010 when Independence parents and friends will experience the thrill of the WILD, WILD, WEST … AUCTION ON THE RANGE – 2010!
The Auction at Independence is a parent-to-parent effort that benefits all our children.

"Warriors for Tim"
Saturday March 27th
Christiana Fire Company’s Memorial Hall

“Warriors for Tim”, a group of family and friends dedicated to the continual support and assistance for Timothy Raymond and his family. Timmy is a 13 year old who lives in Chalfont, PA and attends Unami Middle School. Timmy has enjoyed playing Warrington sports such as football, baseball and basketball for years. He is also very proud of being a Distinguished Honors Student and he also plays the saxophone, piano and electronic games.   All of these activities came to a sudden stop as of November 1st, when Tim was airlifted to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia after his local hospital quickly realized that Timmy’s condition was much more serious than they could handle. No one knew that Timmy had just begun the battle for his life. Timmy contracted H1N1, double pneumonia and MRSA, and has been a patient of the ICU at CHOP since then. His condition is day by day but we do know his road to recovery will be a very long one. He is currently waiting for a lung transplant, as this is his best chance of recovery. Please help support our cause to assist Timmy and the Raymond Family. Tim’s mom, Tina, is a graduate of Glasgow High School and a longtime resident of Newark, DE. Many of Tim’s relatives and friends still live in the Newark area and are gratetful for your support.
The silent auction is being held during a benefit dinner on Saturday March 27th at the Christiana Fire Company’s Memorial Hall, in which the fees have been so generously paid for by Precision Homes & Remodeling Group, LLC, located here in Delaware. We are all very thankful for your support.
Sherri Ciancutti Portraits has donated a Studio Portrait Session, 8×10 portrait and 8 wallets that will be available to bid on through the Silent Auction.  Please join us at the event and help raise money for Warriors for Tim!
